Soton Crossings is an independent service that shows a live, best-guess status for Southampton's level crossings, derived from open railway data. This policy covers both the website (sotoncrossings.co.uk) and the Soton Crossings iOS app.
In short: we don't collect personal data about you. There are no accounts, no logins, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking.
Nothing that identifies you. The website and the app simply fetch crossing status from our server over an anonymous HTTPS request. We don't ask for your name, email, or any account, and the app sends us no device identifier, contacts, photos, or location.
Like any website, our server and our network provider (Cloudflare) process the IP address of incoming requests to deliver the page and to protect the service from abuse. This is standard operational/security processing — we don't use it to build a profile of you, link it to an identity, or sell it, and we don't keep a history of your activity.
The app is a paid download from Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see or store your card details or Apple ID.
Live data is derived from Network Rail / National Rail open-data feeds. We read those feeds — we do not send any of your information to them. Soton Crossings is independent and not affiliated with Network Rail.
The service is suitable for all ages and is not directed specifically at children; we collect no personal data from anyone.
We hold no personal data tied to you, so there's nothing to export or delete. If you have any privacy question, email [email protected].
If this policy changes we'll update this page and the date above.
See also our Terms of Use. Soton Crossings is an independent best-guess aid and not an official source — always obey the crossing's own signals and barriers.
